On October 23, 2019, a concerning issue arose when Safaricom, Kenya's leading telco, experienced a glitch that allowed Kenyans to heist data bundles from the company. The incident sparked widespread attention, with many taking to social media to share their experiences.
According to an audio recording shared by Mnur Feruz on Twitter, a Safaricom call center customer service representative confirmed that all remaining data bundles would be recovered. The audio also stated that already used data would be recovered from individual accounts involved, although it did not specify whether the recovery would be via airtime or deducted from M-Pesa accounts.
