October 22, 2019 - A prominent lawyer, Adrian Kamotho, has taken Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom to court over allegations that they have been throttling customers' data before the usage period expires.
According to Kamotho, he was shocked by the way these companies have been exploiting Kenyans, especially those with low incomes.
He is seeking an order to compel the companies to publish the data usage and validity periods on their websites.
Kamotho also wants the companies to stop throttling data that has not yet expired.
The lawsuit comes amidst growing concerns over data theft and exploitation by mobile network operators.
