On October 21, 2019, Seacom and Vodacom Business Africa announced a strategic partnership to expand their network connectivity across Africa.

The partnership allows Seacom to service customers and partners beyond East and South Africa, while Vodacom solidifies its presence across the continent.

Seacom plans to utilize Vodacom's network in 47 countries to enable its customers to access a wider network footprint, reaching far and wide using a single network.

According to Seacom's Chief Commercial Officer, Steve Briggs, 'Our customers are increasingly looking for network footprints beyond those markets {Kenya and South Africa}. Vodacom Business Africa has a network in 47 countries outside of South Africa. The network allows us to put our customers on to their network with a single SLA and a single contract.'

The partnership is an extension of the two companies' deep history, dating back to 10 years ago when Vodacom was Seacom's earliest client.

Meeting the Growing Demand for Internet Connectivity

The partnership stems from the increasing demand for connectivity across the continent, driven by firms investing in big cloud services, the Internet of Things, and other Internet-intensive activities.

Seacom aims to take at least 10% of its customers to the rest of the continent through Vodacom, leveraging their respective brands and marketing capabilities to wade off competitors.
