Published on October 20, 2019, Ida Odinga, the wife of ODM leader Raila Odinga, has revealed the genesis of her long-standing feud with Lwam Bekele, the widow of her late son Fidel Odinga.
The dispute centers around the multi-million-shilling estate left behind by Fidel, who passed away in 2015. Ida wants twins allegedly sired by Fidel out of wedlock included as beneficiaries of the property, but Bekele has denied the kids, insisting that her son is the only heir to her deceased husband's estate.
High Court Justice Aggrey Muchelule has ordered a DNA test on the twins to determine paternity before the succession case proceeds. Ida accuses Bekele of concealing part of Fidel's property, omitting several properties in the inventory of her late husband's estate, and withdrawing her grandson from formal education soon after Fidel's passing.
Bekele, however, denies the allegations, accusing Ida of fueling the dispute due to their personal differences. She claims that the Odinga family does not support her son and disputes claims that the boy dropped from school.
The case will be mentioned on November 13th, 2019.
