Warning signs have been put up in several Nairobi churches, cautioning worshipers to keep a close eye on their valuables.

The move comes after a thief was caught on camera stealing a handbag from a worshiper at the Holy Family Basilica in Nairobi on October 20, 2019.

According to a video obtained by Nyakundi Report, the thief, who was attending the mass, pretended to be praying and participating in the Liturgy while secretly stealing the handbag.

He was seen taking quick glances over his shoulders before grabbing the handbag and making a swift exit from the church.

However, a member of the church revealed that the items in the handbag were later recovered, and the thief remains at large.

Church leaders have urged anyone with information about the thief to report to the nearest police station.
