Kenyans Rally Behind Frustrated Kakamega Police Officer

On Friday, October 18, 2019, Kenyans took to social media to rally behind a frustrated Kakamega police officer who accused her seniors of assigning her to work in areas with no allowances.

The officer, who hails from Turkana county, claimed she was being deliberately discriminated against because she comes from a minority tribe.

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai ordered the officer to undergo a mental check-up after her video went viral, but social media users argued that she was depressed and came out boldly to speak the truth.

"That lady feels like being discriminated, she needs to continue with her former work place of guard, which some time pay her allowance. Not mental checkup," Joel Koske said.

"Can you imagine guns in the hands of such frustrated officers? May God help us...the lady should be assisted not victimised," Evelyn Anyango said.

The officer's video went viral on Thursday, October 17, as she dared the service to fire her rather than subject her to constant frustrations just because she was from a minority tribe in Turkana.

"I am tired of being frustrated and intimidated, why can't my bosses do justice. I am ready to be fired. Why can't they assign me areas where I can get money?" she posed.
