As Kenya celebrates the incredible achievement of Eliud Kipchoge, who ran the marathon in under two hours, it's time for other organizations to step up and excel in their vital roles. For Derek Koome, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is one such organization that needs to do better. The Airport South Road turn-off, near Amiran, is plagued by huge potholes, and Derek wonders what KeNHA is doing to address this issue.
"Eliud has ran his race, you should now run yours!" Derek urges KeNHA to take action and improve the country's infrastructure.
Meanwhile, on the South Coast, residents are facing a different kind of challenge. Pauline McKenzie, a South Coast resident, is frustrated with the ferry service that connects the mainland to the tourist resort city of Mombasa. Many motorists, including truck drivers, often have to wait for over two hours to get their vehicles onto the vessels, even when five ferries are in operation. Part of the problem, Pauline believes, is that the ferries are being filled up with non-paying passengers.
"Is this fair?" Pauline asks, highlighting the need for a more efficient and equitable ferry service.
Elsewhere, the repair of the Ongata Rongai-Maasai Lodge-Nazarene University road has raised concerns about the quality of work being done. Deno Kiriama, a concerned citizen, points out that the road is being repaired in preparation for an upcoming graduation at Nazarene's main campus, but the work being done is substandard. He urges the Kajiado County authorities and the national roads agency to ensure that the road is fully tarmacked.
Finally, Nairobi is growing into a cosmopolitan capital city, with residents proud of their tech-savviness and the city's development. Alnashir Walji highlights the need for residents to guard against criminals and maintain a high degree of cleanliness in the city.
As Kenya continues to grow and develop, it's essential that its infrastructure keeps pace. It's time for organizations like KeNHA to take action and improve the country's roads and transportation systems.
