Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi has returned to office after more than a year in the cold, and she's ready to work with all members of the assembly, not just one side.
Elachi made the declaration a day after the Jubilee Party brokered a truce between its warring factions at the assembly.
"I am not a Speaker of ODM but a speaker of Nairobi Assembly," Elachi said, dismissing claims she owes her return to support from ODM MCAs.
She emphasized that Nairobi deserves stable leadership and that she will respect and abide by the decisions made by her party.
Elachi also acknowledged that it's normal to have allies from the ODM party in the spirit of the Handshake, but she denied that this means she will look down upon Majority Leader Abdi Guyo.
