Published on October 18, 2019, a by-election was held in Loiyangalani Ward, Marsabit County, to fill the vacant MCA seat left by the sudden death of FAP's Marko Ekale on April 29, 2019.

Stephen Nakeno of Jubilee Party emerged victorious, securing 1,522 votes. He was closely followed by Lesiantam Iltele of Kanu, who garnered 1,048 votes.

The other candidates, including Titus Lolmogut Leokoe of Maendeleo Chap Chap, Tobias Chodow Lenguro of ODM, Tom Ebukut Ekale of Frontier Alliance Party, and Alex Ltamuni Louwa of Ford-Kenya, trailed behind with 663, 309, 247, and 147 votes respectively.

The election, which was marred by a low turnout, was deemed fair and well-conducted by the MCA-elect, Stephen Nakeno.

"I am humbled to be considered worthy of this win by the Loiyangalani Ward electorates. I promise to deliver to my very best as soon as I get to office," said Nakeno.

His opponents conceded defeat and congratulated Nakeno on his victory.
