On October 16, 2019, a mysterious customer deposited a bag containing a stolen police firearm, a Lenovo Pad Laptop, and a certificate of appointment at Naivas Supermarket along Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi.

The items, including the firearm with serial number FN 10850, were left in a customer box and never collected by the customer.

Two days later, police recovered the bag and its contents, leading to the release of bodyguard Irene Ndunge Kyama, who had been in custody since the firearm went missing.

According to police, the scene was processed, and the pistol was taken into custody pending ballistic examination.

Ms. Kyama had initially stated that she lost the gun while on duty along Muindi Mbingu Street in Nairobi.
