On June 19, 2020, tragedy struck in Nduga village, Kasipul Constituency, when 11-year-old Noel Adhiambo was brutally murdered. Her body was later taken to Rachuonyo level 4 hospital for a post-mortem, which revealed that she died of profuse bleeding caused by a blunt object to the right side of her rib cage.
According to the post-mortem report, Adhiambo was hit with a blunt object on the right side of her rib cage, causing a fracture on the 4th, 5th, and 6th ribs. The blood on the right side of the chest affected crucial internal organs like the heart, causing instant death.
Confirming the incident, Rachuonyo South Sub County Police Commander Esau Ochorokodi said that they arrested the 15-year-old suspect, Michael Otieno Gono, after evidence linked him directly to the death of the minor. The suspect is being detained at Kosele Police Station awaiting arraignment in court.
Adhiambo's mother, Christine Awino, had earlier suspected that her daughter was killed by two boys, including the one who has been arrested. Awino had told KNA that Adhiambo and her elder sister Judith Atieno were looking after cattle at a field in the village on the fateful afternoon when the incident occurred.
