On October 17, 2019, the Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) began the process of finding a new managing director to lead the agency.

The move comes after the agency's chairman, Jackson Kiptanui, announced the recruitment of a new boss to replace David Kimosop, who was ousted over allegations of losing Sh21 billion meant for two dam projects.

According to KVDA, the new managing director will serve for three years with an option of term renewal, subject to outstanding performance and achievements.

The recruitment process is expected to fill the leadership vacuum at KVDA, which has been plagued by controversy following the arrest of top officials over the Arror and Kimwarer dams' scandal.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had ordered the cancellation of the Kimwarer dam project following a taskforce report that showed the Sh22.2 billion project was inflated.

Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji had recommended the prosecution of former Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge, and 26 others for flouting procurement in the projects.
