On October 16, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta shared his thoughts on how Kenyan men can successfully woo women, while commissioning the JKIA-Westlands Expressway.
According to the President, men should respect women and approach them with dignity, rather than disrespecting them.
“Wazee waheshimu akina mama… sio kwenda na kukosea mwanamke heshima… wewe enda umtongoze polepole… ukibahatika, sawa… ukikosa tafuta mwingine,” he said, urging men to seduce women with respect.
The President's comments drew laughter from the crowd, but also sparked a discussion on the importance of respecting women in Kenyan society.
Interestingly, the President also linked respectfully seducing a woman to eradicating tribalism, suggesting that this approach can help bridge cultural divides.
During the same function, President Kenyatta reiterated his commitment to not extending his term of office beyond 2022.
