On October 16, 2019, former Nairobi County Assembly speaker and AFC Leopards chairman Alex Ole Magelo expressed his interest in running for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) presidency.
Magelo, who has a proven track record in leadership, aims to develop football from the grassroots level.
"My leadership qualities have been tested and proven, and my track record speaks for itself," Magelo said, highlighting his suitability for the top seat.
He also called for fair play in the electoral process, warning against attempts to change election rules to favor certain candidates.
Magelo's announcement comes as another presidential aspirant, Khamisi Shivachi, accused FKF boss Nick Mwendwa of imposing tough conditions that were against the constitution to secure his re-election.
Shivachi criticized the federation's 26-page electoral code, which he claimed was designed to favor Mwendwa's re-election.
