Aisha Jumwa's Storming of ODM Meeting Ends in Tragedy

On October 15, 2019, a supporter of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) was shot dead in Malindi, Kenya, after chaos erupted during a by-election campaign meeting.

The meeting was being held by ODM agents to strategize on how to oversee and monitor the Ganda Ward mini-poll scheduled for October 17, 2019.

Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa stormed the venue, causing drama and chaos, which led to the killing of the ODM party agent.

The deceased was identified as Gumbao Jola, an uncle to Reuben Katana, ODM's aspirant in the Ganda Ward by-election.

According to eyewitnesses, Aisha Jumwa arrived at the venue in a white car surrounded by bodyguards, disrupting the meeting where the victim was shot dead.

Malindi Sub-county Police Commander Phillip Wambugu confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the incident, while Aisha Jumwa denied any involvement in the scuffle.
