On October 15, 2019, the National Police Service announced that it would be investigating several high-ranking officials, including Deputy Inspector General of Police Edward Kinuthia and Makadara MP George Aladwa, following a damning expose by Citizen TV.
The expose, titled Westlands Underworld, revealed a complex web of corruption and harassment aimed at a 70-year-old billionaire, Dillip Bakrania, who owns several companies in Nairobi's Industrial Area.
According to the investigation, Bakrania's 192 Bentley vehicle worth millions had gone missing, his bank accounts were frozen by individuals, and his gun was taken away.
Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and DPP Noordin Haji were involved in the decision to launch the investigation, which was ordered by Hillary Mutyambai, the Deputy Inspector General of Police.
The investigators have 14 days to submit their report, and the public, including Citizen TV, is invited to submit any documentary evidence they may have.
