Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has taken the lead in the Kenya Basketball Federation women's Premier League after defeating Equity Bank Hawks in a double victory at the weekend.
The team, seeking to reclaim the title they lost to Equity Hawks last season, dominated their opponents Tangit Sparks and African Nazarene University (ANU) with ease.
On Saturday, KPA thrashed Tangit 103-20, while on Sunday, they battered newcomers Nazarene 110-35 in their final regular-season tie at Makande Hall in Mombasa.
With 42 points, KPA now tops the log, one point ahead of defending champions Equity Bank, who have a match at hand.
The team will also be looking to salvage the Zone V title they lost to the bankers last year.
Other teams in the top five include University of Nairobi (UoN) Dynamites in third place with 37 points, Zetech University in fourth place with 35 points and a match at hand, and Strathmore University Swords in fifth place with 34 points.
