On Sunday night, Nyahururu Anglican Church of Kenya's main diocese fell victim to a brazen theft. Thugs raided the church, making off with the day's offering and electronics worth over Sh245,000.
According to Bishop Stephen Kabora, the thieves entered the church compound by climbing over the perimeter wall. They accessed the church's safe, stealing an unknown amount of money collected during the day. The stolen electronics included a piano, a mixer, and two flat-screen televisions.
“We were shocked when we went to the church compound only to find the windows had been broken. Upon searching further, we found out that they had stolen the electronics and the safe had also been broken into. They stole all the money that had been raised earlier,” Bishop Kabora said.
The motive behind the incident remains unknown, and the police are investigating. Nyahururu police boss Geofrey Mayiek stated that police were questioning two watchmen who were on duty at the time of the incident.
