On October 13, 2019, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi sparked controversy with a series of allegations against COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli.

Sudi claimed that Atwoli was stealing young wives meant for young, energetic men, thereby causing a deficit in the number of young women available for marriage in the market.

According to Sudi, Atwoli's actions were setting an unfair trend for young men seeking to settle down, as his financial muscle gave him an advantage over those with little to no financial means.

Sudi further accused Atwoli of stealing money from struggling workers and using it to fund his personal desires on young women, some of whom were old enough to be his grandchildren.

“Many young people, including MPs, have lost spouses to Atwoli’s promiscuity oiled by stolen money from unsuspecting workers,” Sudi alleged.

Atwoli had recently married his third wife, Mary Kilobi, a move that attracted negative attention from the public. However, Atwoli had clarified that he married Kilobi because he wanted someone to take care of him as his strength was failing.
