On October 13, 2019, Kenyan athlete Brigid Kosgei made history at the Chicago Marathon, shattering the world record in the process.

With a time of 2:14:04, Kosgei broke Paula Radcliffe's 15-year-old record of 2:15:25, set in 2003. The 25-year-old's impressive performance earned her the title of youngest winner of the race.

Radcliffe, who was in attendance at the finishing line, praised Kosgei's achievement, saying, "When I saw how fast Brigid was running in the first half, I knew it was going to be broken."

Kosgei's victory was met with cheers from the fans, who supported her throughout the course. "The course was good although there were some headwinds," she said. "I felt okay because of the fans who cheered me throughout the course."

With this impressive win, Kosgei has cemented her place in the history books, and her name will be remembered for years to come.
