On October 11, 2019, a car that had been submerged in the Indian Ocean for 13 days was successfully retrieved in a joint operation involving a team of divers and experts from the Kenya Navy, Kenya Ferry Services, and South African professional divers.
The retrieval exercise, which lasted for a day, utilized a crane and several boats to lift the vehicle out of the water.
Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna was expected to address a press conference at the end of the operation.
