On October 11th, 2019, High Court Judge Justice Weldon Korir issued an injunction halting the impeachment process of Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja.
The court order bars the Taita Taveta County Assembly from forwarding its resolution to the Senate until October 28th, when the matter will be mentioned.
Meanwhile, the County Assembly forum has called on MCAs to reject the Punguza Mizigo constitution amendment bill, citing a lack of public participation during its formulation.
The forum, led by chairperson Ndegwa Wahome, also opposes the Ekuru Aukot's proposal, arguing that it cannot be amended and would take back the gains of the current constitution, particularly on representation.
Separately, MPs under the Inua Mama banner have demanded that the Jubilee party hold party elections by next year's March, as part of their efforts to overhaul the current Jubilee Party Secretariat.
Speaking in Ol Kalua Nyandaru County, the women MPs vowed to support Deputy President William Ruto's presidential ambitions.
