On October 11, 2019, HMD Global announced that the Nokia 8.1 would begin receiving the Android 10 update, marking a significant milestone in the company's commitment to delivering timely software updates.

The update, which is now rolling out to Nokia 8.1 users, brings a host of new features, including Dark theme, Gesture Navigation, Live Captions, and more.

According to HMD Global, the Nokia 8.1 is the first smartphone in its segment to receive the Android 10 update, making it a significant achievement for the company.

The update is being rolled out in a phased manner, with users expected to receive it over the next few days.

The Nokia 8.1, which was launched in Kenya earlier this year, is available in Blue/Silver and Iron/Steel color combinations and retails for an estimated price of Ksh 45,000.

Key features of Android 10 include Focus mode, which helps users concentrate on tasks by pausing distracting apps, and Dark theme, which swaps interface colors for darker tones to reduce eye strain.

Other features include Smart Reply, which predicts and suggests responses to messages, and improved security and privacy settings, which allow users to control location sharing and access to sensitive data.

With this update, Nokia 8.1 users will have access to the latest features from Google, making their smartphone experience even more seamless and enjoyable.
