On October 11, 2019, a court in Kenya granted Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, the prime suspect in the murder of her husband Tob Cohen, a Sh2 million cash bail.
Alternatively, she was directed to deposit a Sh4 million bond and provide two sureties, each worth Sh2 million.
Justice Stella Mutuku ruled that the prosecution had not provided sufficient reasons to deny Wairimu bail.
However, before her release, the court required Wairimu's parents to submit testimonials stating their willingness to accommodate her.
The court also barred Wairimu from accessing her matrimonial home without permission, citing the need for her to explain her reasons for wanting to be there.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has announced plans to appeal against the decision to grant Wairimu bail.
