Since 2015, The Nation has made a concerted effort to improve its accuracy and transparency, with a significant increase in corrections being published.

According to Lisa Kuria, who wrote to the newspaper in 2015, she was disappointed by the daily typos and grammatical mistakes in The Nation. However, she expressed hope that the newspaper could put out publications that reflected its high standard.

Complaints about grammatical mistakes continued to pour in, with Naftali Osoro writing in 2017 that lovers of The Nation wondered what was going on in the editorial department. Joseph Muiruri, writing in 2019, prayed that the newspaper avoid glaring mistakes to retain its credibility.

However, as Public Editor Peter Mwaura explained in 2018, The Nation is correcting more mistakes, not making more mistakes. The newspaper has come a long way in correcting errors, with readers able to easily report mistakes via email.

Confucius once said, 'If you know you made a mistake and don't correct it, then you have really made a mistake.' The Nation has taken this to heart, with many readers appreciating the newspaper's efforts to own up to mistakes and learn from them.

Joseph Wanjohi, writing in 2019, commended The Nation for taking prompt action in correcting mistakes, but expressed concern that the nature of the corrections pointed to pure laziness in checking the facts.

As Public Editor Peter Mwaura noted, correcting mistakes is a good thing, and newspapers have an obligation to the reader to own up and correct the mistakes they make. The Nation is committed to accuracy and transparency, and its efforts to correct mistakes have earned it credibility, trust, and integrity.
