As the capital city and seat of the national government, Nairobi's leadership crisis is a cause for concern. The recent chaos at City Hall, sparked by Speaker Beatrice Elachi's return to work after a 13-month forced eviction, is a stark reminder of the county's leadership woes.

Speaker Elachi's return to work on October 11, 2019 marked the end of a tumultuous period at City Hall, where MCAs have shown a blatant disregard for the law and have caused mayhem without consequences.

The MCAs' actions are a clear indication that they have no sense of shame and are more interested in pursuing their personal agendas than serving the people of Nairobi.

As the situation at City Hall continues to deteriorate, it is imperative that action is taken against the perpetrators of the chaos. The police and investigators must seize the masterminds behind the mayhem and bring them to justice.

The leadership crisis at City Hall is not just a local issue, but has far-reaching implications for the country's economy and national growth. A city that is run by ne'er-do-wells ceases to be attractive, and investors and visitors are scared away.

It is time for the people of Nairobi to demand better leadership from their elected representatives. The practice of electing just anyone to the county assembly or governor's parlour must stop, and quality leaders must be elected to serve the people.
