KRA Cracks Down on Chinese Developers Over Sh26m Tax Evasion

On October 9, 2019, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) arrested three directors of a Chinese real estate company for tax evasion.

The three directors, Zhang Xiaodong, Ming Zhao, and He Youging, were arrested in Nairobi and are out on a police cash bail of Sh100,000.

According to the commissioner of investigation and enforcement, David Yego, the directors of Tianyi Limited failed to declare and remit taxes amounting to Sh26 million from the sale of 171 units of residential houses in Athi River's River Park Estate.

The directors will appear in court on October 14, 2019.
