On 7 November, Kenyans will head to the polls for the Kibra by-election, but the process has already been marred by controversy. The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has raised concerns about rigging, prompting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to launch an investigation.
IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati has appointed an investigator to probe the allegations, which were raised after a meeting with ODM officials. The officials had demanded access to the Kibra voters register before the by-election.
According to Chebukati, all poll officials will be shared with political parties through the Registrar of Political Parties. This move aims to increase transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
Additionally, Chebukati has announced that there will be no transmission of results from polling stations to the tallying center. This decision is intended to prevent any potential manipulation of results.
