LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid secured a thrilling comeback victory at Getafe on September 21, 2021, thanks to two late goals from Luis Suarez.
The Uruguayan striker scored in the 78th and 90th minutes to seal a 2-1 win for Atletico, who moved top of the standings with 14 points from six games.
The victory marked a remarkable turnaround for Atletico, who had been reduced to 10 men in the 74th minute after Carles Alena was sent off for a reckless challenge on Matheus Cunha.
Despite being down to 10 men, Getafe's David Soria made a series of impressive saves to keep his team in the game, but Suarez's clinical finishing ultimately proved too much for the hosts.
"Every player at the top level has to learn to live with criticism but what I do is never give in, I'll never get beat down by criticism," Suarez said in a post-match interview.
"Above all I'm happy because of the circumstances of the game and that we managed to turn the scoreline on its head after."
The win marked a second consecutive away victory for Atletico in added time, following Thomas Lemar's strike in the 98th minute in a 2-1 win at Espanyol earlier this month.
Atletico's victory also marked a significant milestone for coach Diego Simeone, who had never conceded against Getafe in 1,583 minutes of LaLiga football since taking charge of the club in December 2011.
