Kenyan athletics icon Eliud Kipchoge is making history by attempting to run a marathon under two hours in the INEOS 1:59 Challenge, a feat that has never been achieved before.

On October 12, 2019, Kipchoge will take on the challenge in Vienna, Austria, and the world is watching with bated breath.

As he prepares for the historic attempt, Kipchoge has been treated to the luxury of a private jet, courtesy of British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who owns the Gulfstream G280 valued at $24.5 million (Sh2.4 billion).

Kenyan fans have taken to social media to express their support for Kipchoge, with many hailing him as a legend and a source of inspiration.

"Eliud Kipchoge is pure class, from recording his fourth London Marathon title to the second fastest speed in history standing at 2:02:37 and now headed to Austria to run against time and break his own record," said Raila Junior Odinga, son of opposition leader Raila Odinga.

"The universe has a way of rewarding humble people who focus on building themselves. All the world is now watching Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge; a son of a peasant whose talent hoisted him up the global stage," said Agnes Kagure.

"Eliud Kipchoge" is like a human machine. Pride of Kenya and the son of the Land. There is Mursik waiting for you Legend. Know that you inspire many across the board," said Amos Koech.
