Published on October 8, 2019, a man whose wife died during a botched breast enlargement surgery has accused a doctor of trying to induce him to drop his claim for compensation.

Joseph Mulupi's wife, June, died on June 5, 2018, after undergoing the surgery at Surgeoderm Healthcare Clinic, led by plastic surgeon Stanley Khainga.

Mulupi claimed that Khainga approached him to have the matter settled out of court and asked him to withdraw a complaint of professional misconduct and negligence he filed against Khainga and two other doctors.

"It is highly manipulative and insensitive for Prof Khainga to play with me psychologically when it is their actions that caused the death of my wife," Mulupi said.

Mulupi maintained that his wife was a healthy woman when she walked into Khainga's clinic, but the sudden drop in blood pressure, bowel perforation, kidney failure, and sepsis that led to her death were not ordinary occurrences without negligence.

The Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board's disciplinary committee has taken up the matter, and a tribunal is scheduled to investigate the conduct and suitability of Khainga, Dr. Ajujo, and Dr. Cherono to perform plastic surgery.
