Published on October 7, 2019, Gor Mahia head coach Steve Pollack has called on his team to improve their performance after a labored 1-0 win over Zoo Kericho.
The Kenyan Premier League champions maintained their 100% start to the domestic campaign at Nakuru's Afraha Stadium, but Pollack was unimpressed with the display.
'A few of these players have to look at themselves and say did I play at the level that I can or have been playing?' Pollack said.
He added that the team needs to improve their decision-making, keep things simple, and enhance their movement and passing quality.
Pollack, who replaced Hassan Oktay at the start of the season, has won all four of his opening KPL matches, but is aware that he will be judged against the standards set by his predecessors, including Oktay and Dylan Kerr.
'I think that's a question you have to ask the players because it surprised me because we've had a good training session and they looked really sharp,' Pollack said.
He attributed the sluggish performance to factors unrelated to the players' abilities, such as tiredness or poor eating habits.
The international break will give Pollack's team time to rejuvenate, and he is optimistic that they will be able to work on a few things during the break.
