On October 7, 2019, Uganda Airlines marked a significant milestone in its revival with the arrival of two new Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft at Entebbe International Airport.
The aircraft, manufactured in Canada, completes phase one of the airline's revival and will enable it to expand its route network in southern and central Africa.
According to Cornwell Muleya, Uganda Airlines' technical advisor, the new aircraft will cover several destinations, including Kinshasa, Asmara, Hergeisa, Lusaka, Harare, Johannesburg, Djibouti, and Addis Ababa.
Uganda Airlines had been grounded for almost 20 years before resuming commercial operations on August 28 with flights to Nairobi, Mogadishu, Juba, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, and Mombasa.
The airline plans to add more destinations, including Bujumbura and Kigali, before entering the long-haul business with the delivery of two Airbus 330-800neo in December 2021.
