Joseph Kiheri, a seasoned photojournalist, left an indelible mark in the journalism world before succumbing to multiple Myeloma on Monday afternoon at Mater Hospital in Nairobi.
Diagnosed with the cancer just a month ago, Kiheri had been admitted to Mediheal Hospital for tests, which led to the diagnosis.
His son, Samuel Kariuki, revealed that Kiheri had been in hospital for only four weeks, during which time they learned of his cancer diagnosis.
According to Kariuki, Kiheri had never experienced any major health complications prior to his cancer diagnosis, only complaining of minor backaches that were treated.
Before his passing, Kiheri had a storied career, working as a photojournalist for Nation Media Group and later as a communications person for Kinuthia Mbugua, the former Governor of Nakuru county.
After leaving public service, Kiheri ventured into private photography-related businesses, where he worked until his untimely passing.
He leaves behind a wife and three children.
