On October 4, 2019, Conseslus Kipruto made history by winning the gold medal in the men's 3000m steeplechase event at the 2019 Doha World Championships.
Competing against Lamecha Girma, an 18-year-old Ethiopian athlete, Kipruto emerged victorious, defending his title and taking home the top prize.
With a time of 8 minutes and 1.35 seconds, Kipruto left his competitors in the dust, securing the gold medal and cementing his position as a top athlete in the steeplechase event.
Girma, who finished second with a time of 8 minutes and 1.36 seconds, secured the silver medal and became the first Ethiopian athlete to win a medal in the event.
Soufiane El Bakkali, a Moroccan athlete, finished third and took home the bronze medal.
