On October 4, 2019, a devastating road accident occurred at Pala area in Awasi, Kisumu, resulting in the loss of 13 lives.
The accident involved an Eldoret Express bus and a trailer, with the bus carrying passengers from Siaya to Nairobi.
According to County Police boss Benson Maweu, the bus driver attempted to overtake a vehicle but crashed head-on with an oncoming truck, resulting in the deaths of 12 adults and one child.
Police confirmed that all 13 victims died at the scene, with scores of injured people taken to various hospitals in the area.
Mr. Maweu's statement on the incident is a grim reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of road safety.
