On October 3, 2019, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) in Kenya donated a Ksh. 1.4 million hospital macerator equipment to Embakasi Health Centre in Nairobi County.
The equipment, worth over Kshs. 1.4 million, is expected to minimize the handling of waste and maximize its safe removal from the health facility, thereby improving access to quality healthcare in the area.
According to Susan Maingi, Public Affairs and Communications Director at Coca-Cola Beverages Africa in Kenya, the donation is part of the company's broader Sustainability agenda to create greater shared opportunity for the communities it serves.
“Access to quality healthcare is still a challenge in many parts of this country. We therefore anticipate that this macerator equipment will help to support operations here and provide the needed resource that this facility lacked,” Maingi stated.
Embakasi Health Centre, a Level 3 hospital managed by the Nairobi county government, is set to benefit from the donation, which aligns with Coca-Cola's aim to support initiatives and programmes in communities in which it operates.
“Opportunity is about more than just money, it’s about a better future for people and their communities everywhere on the African continent. When we grow our business the right way, not just the easy way, we help create opportunity for our communities, our customers, our employees and our shareholders,” Maingi added.
