On July 25, 2021, Kenya's polo team emerged victorious in the Kenya International Polo Championships, held at the Manyatta Polo Club in Gilgil, Nakuru County.
The team's success can be attributed to the exceptional performance of Ballitto Girl, a 10-year-old pony owned by Jadini Nzomo. The pony was ridden by Zambian player Shane Coventry and played a crucial role in the team's victory.
Ballitto Girl's impressive skills on the pitch earned her the title of Best Playing Pony (BPP) in the three-day championships. The pony's performance was praised by both the Kenyan and Zambian teams, with Shane Coventry stating, "This pony was good to me and it made my work easier in the final match and I must thank its owner (Jadini Nzomo) for a well-trained horse and I wish I could take it with me in Zambia,"
Kenya's captain, Casimir Gross, also commended the pony's performance, saying, "It was a tough match but I must admit the Zambians is also a well-coordinated and polished side. We made a few mistakes at start but we re-collected ourselves to make a gallant comeback to overcome our opponents,"
Despite the narrow loss, Zambia's captain, Kevin Coventry, expressed hope to avenge their defeat in the Lusaka International Championships next season.
Kenya's victory marked their third consecutive win over Zambia, solidifying their authority in East and Central Africa. The team's success was also attributed to the exceptional performance of their players, including captain Casimir Gross, who emerged as the man of the match with a total score of five goals.
