On October 2, 2019, the Tob Cohen murder case took a dramatic turn as lawyer Philip Murgor accused the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of defying a court order and leaking sensitive information to the media.
According to Murgor, the DCI had disclosed details about the arrest of President Uhuru Kenyatta's cousin to a journalist, which he claimed was a clear breach of the court's order.
"There's a publication that a second cousin of President Uhuru Kenyatta has been arrested. I called the journalists and he said he was given the information by the DCI," Murgor said in court.
Murgor indicated that he would be filing a lawsuit against the DCI for leaking the information, which he claimed was related to the murder case.
The prosecution denied Murgor's claims and promised to investigate the source of the leak.
Meanwhile, Sarah Wairimu, the main suspect in the murder case, had been accused of contempt of court for speaking publicly about the case during her husband's burial.
