On October 2, 2019, a long-standing paternity dispute involving the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth came to an end.
Monica Okoth, Ken's widow, and Anne Thumbi, his girlfriend, have reached a court-ordered agreement to accept the outcome of a DNA test confirming that Ken Okoth was the father of a child.
Initially, Monica Okoth disputed the DNA results presented in court, which established that Ken Okoth had a son with Anne Thumbi.
Lawyer Danstan Omari, representing the child's mother, stated that the paternity issue has been resolved and that they will proceed to the High Court to determine the child's upkeep, including school fees and medical cover.
"The next question is to decide what are the entitlements of the child under the succession law. We will move to the High Court to get school fees, and medical cover for the child," said Mr. Omari.
