This archive report was first published on 2 October 2019.

On September 5, 2019, DNA results showed a 99.9 percent match on samples taken from Ken Okoth's body and those of the minor whose paternity was disputed when the MP succumbed to cancer.

Despite initial reservations, Monica Okoth, the late MP's widow, has finally accepted the DNA test results confirming Ken Okoth as the biological father of Anne Thumbi's son.

Monica had commissioned independent DNA tests on Okoth and Thumbi's son, but the results were not yet out when she made formal submissions in court.

She requested 20 days to confirm whether the outcome would be different, but the magistrate directed that she be given 15 days instead.

Family lawyers Danstun Omari and Elkana Mogaka had told journalists that DNA was conducted in three different laboratories both in Kenya and abroad and gave similar results.

They have since filed reports and affidavits in support of the pending application.
