On Tuesday, October 1, 2019, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga chaired a crucial parliamentary meeting to rally his troops behind the party's Kibra candidate, Imran Okoth.
The meeting aimed to strategize on how to regain the Kibra seat, which has been a stronghold of the opposition party.
According to the strategy, MPs will be clustered in various groups, each campaigning in the five Kibra wards, including Sarang'ombe, Woodley/Kenyatta Golf Course, Makina, Laini Saba, and Lindi.
As part of their efforts, Raila Odinga and the ODM Legislators agreed to contribute at least Ksh50,000 to assist financially during the campaign period for their candidate, Imran Okoth.
The ODM party also raised alarm over a plot to rig out the ODM candidate through the manipulation of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) register during the meeting.
The alleged plot involves the registration of 10,000 new voters from the neighboring Langata and Dagoretti South to tilt the race in favor of the Jubilee candidate.
The ODM MP present in the meeting stated that they decided to have a legal team write to IEBC to provide the party with the register to be used during the exercise for the party to scrutinize.
