Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley, 25, found himself in a heated exchange with a taxi driver in London on September 30, 2019.

According to reports, Barkley had allegedly spilled chips in the taxi and refused to pay the fare, claiming he had no cash.

Witnesses claim the midfielder was adamant he would not pay, despite the taxi driver's insistence that he clean up the mess and pay extra for the inconvenience.

Footage of the incident, which was shared online, showed the spilled chips on the floor of the taxi.

Merseyside Police eventually intervened, forcing Barkley to withdraw money from a nearby ATM to pay the taxi driver.

Barkley, who is on a £1 million per week contract at Chelsea, had returned to his home city from London after making his first start for the club in a 2-0 win over Burnley on September 28.

He is set to face Chelsea's Champions League tie against French side Lille on October 2.
