On September 16, 2019, Justice Jessie Lessit issued a gag order, prohibiting the DCI, DPP, and the victim's defense from addressing the media regarding the murder case.
However, the information about the arrest of President Uhuru's second cousin was leaked to the press, prompting lawyer Philip Murgor to accuse the DCI of being a 'snitch.'
Speaking in court, Murgor stated, 'There's a publication that a second cousin of President Uhuru Kenyatta has been arrested. I called the journalists and he said he was given the information by the DCI.'
Murgor has announced plans to file a lawsuit against the DCI for leaking the information, but the state prosecutor, Catherine Mwaniki, has rubbished the claims, stating that they will look into the matter.
Despite appearing in court for the fourth time, Sarah Wairimu has yet to take a plea.
