As the national exams approach, the Nyang'oma division in Bondo has taken a drastic measure to ensure students focus on their studies. Discos have been banned in the area, effective immediately.
Assistant County Commissioner for Nyang'oma Division Samson Akach explained that the decision was made to prevent school children from attending discos during funeral night vigils, which was interfering with their studies. 'It has come to our attention that most of those who attend such discos are usually school children and this was interfering with the candidates who are going to sit for their final examinations,' he said.
The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) is set to begin on October 29-31, while the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education will start on November 4-27. The county officer directed that discos remain closed until candidates complete their exams and schools are closed.
Mr. Akach also addressed concerns about wrangles between residents over land ownership, cautioning them against buying land without doing due diligence. 'Before acquiring any parcel of land, buyers must always ensure they follow the due process to avert such conflicts,' he advised.
