On 29 September, Deputy President William Ruto spoke at a fundraising event in Vihiga Sub-county, where he criticized the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) led by Raila Odinga.

Ruto stated that it is not possible to change the constitution through shortcuts and ordinary Kenyans' views must be taken into account.

He used the example of the 'Punguza Mizigo' bill, which flopped, to illustrate his point.

DP Ruto also emphasized the importance of including ordinary Kenyans in the decision-making process, stating that they should be fully included as Kenyan citizens and their views should be put into consideration.

He vowed to ensure that the voices of ordinary Kenyans are heard.

DP Ruto donated Ksh2 million to the residents of Vihiga, with Ksh1 million allocated for the construction of a school and the other million for church use.

He also promised to fund 20 motorcycles for Vihiga youths and asked them to form a savings and credit society.

DP Ruto's statement, 'No shortcuts, no roundabouts, no corners, no mpango wa kando,' highlighted his stance on the matter.
