Published on September 27, 2019, a report by The Standard revealed that two people were killed in Transmara East sub-county following renewed inter-clan clashes over a land boundary row.

The clashes, which occurred between the Siria and Uasin Gishu Maasai clans, were reportedly over a two-acre parcel of land located at the Nkararo-Enooretet border.

Area County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti confirmed that there was tension in the area and that officers had been deployed to maintain peace.

"What I know is that there was tension in the area following suspicions between members of the two clans," said Kimiti.

Efforts to resolve the boundary issue have been ongoing, but the matter remains unresolved. In fact, the government had pledged to establish the boundary last month, but the decision heightened emotions and the matter was halted.

Earlier this month, 54 people suspected of instigating the inter-clan violence were arrested by police and later released.
