Published on September 27, 2019, Tanzanian musician Diamond Platinumz is in a dispute with the Tanzanian Revenue Authority (TRA) over a KSh 5 million tax bill.

According to reports, Diamond Platinumz was summoned by TRA officials during a tourism event in Shinyanga, where he expressed his dissatisfaction with the tax authority's decision to demand he pay the tax bill.

The musician claimed that he was being unfairly targeted and that he had already paid his taxes for the year. He also alleged that the tax authority was trying to sabotage his business by demanding he pay the tax bill.

TRA officials, however, maintained that Diamond Platinumz had been given ample time to settle the tax bill and that he had failed to comply with the tax laws.

"We have given Diamond Platinumz ample time to settle the tax bill, but he has failed to comply with the tax laws," said a TRA official.

Diamond Platinumz has since refused to pay the tax bill, citing unfair treatment by the tax authority.
