Published on October 29, 2021, Google Sheets offers a convenient way to update data throughout your spreadsheet. The built-in Find and Replace feature allows you to quickly locate and change specific data.
Whether you need to update a product's price, vendor name, or location, the Find and Replace feature makes it easy to find and replace data in Google Sheets.
To get started, open your Google Sheets spreadsheet and navigate to the 'Edit' menu. Select 'Find and Replace' to access the feature.
- Enter the data you want to find in the 'Find' box and type in the replacement data in the 'Replace With' field.
- Choose a location to search for the data using the 'Search' drop-down box. You can select 'All Sheets,' 'This Sheet,' or a specific range.
- Click 'Find' to review and confirm the data before replacing it. This will highlight the first occurrence of the data you entered in the 'Find' box.
- Continue to click 'Find' to see the data in each subsequent instance. When all results have been found, the tool will restart, and the message 'No more results found, looping around' will appear in the Find and Replace window.
Once you've reviewed your data, you can choose to replace all instances or update only one instance. If you decide to replace all instances, click 'Replace All.' The number of items replaced will be displayed in the Find and Replace window, and your data will be updated.
Additional options for finding your data can be found in the Find and Replace window's Search section. These options include 'Match Case,' 'Match Entire Cell Contents,' 'Search Using Regular Expressions,' and 'Also Search Within Formulas.'
By using the Find and Replace feature in Google Sheets, you can efficiently update data throughout your spreadsheet and save time.
