Fatuma Gedi Pings McDonald Mariga's Candidacy

Published on September 26, 2019

Fatuma Gedi, a Jubilee Party member of parliament, has expressed her opposition to McDonald Mariga's candidacy for the Kibra constituency seat, citing his lack of qualifications and experience.

Gedi stated that the party chose Mariga despite his questionable character, which has been marred by allegations of corruption and ties to casinos.

She also criticized the party's nomination process, claiming that it was biased towards Mariga and ignored more qualified candidates.

"We failed as a party when we chose Mariga, who has no record of development in Kibra, despite his football skills earning him millions of shillings," Gedi said.

She was joined by other Jubilee Party leaders who have also expressed their opposition to Mariga's candidacy, including Maina Kamanda and Moses Kuria.

Mariga has been accused of lacking the necessary qualifications and experience to represent the Kibra constituency, and his nomination has been met with resistance from some party members.

Other leaders who have opposed Mariga's candidacy include Beatrice Elachi, the former Speaker of the National Assembly.

Mariga's nomination has sparked controversy, with some party members questioning the party's decision to choose him over more qualified candidates.
